Cowplain War Memorial

During 2013 the Cowplain History Society was started, initially to draw on the memories and photographs of the older residents of the Cowplain area before those memories and items disappeared and became “lost history”

Weekly meetings were held at Age Concern, Borrow Centre, Cowplain to gather these memories and other items, with the objective of compiling a book, the proceeds from this book’s sale to be used to fund the building of a War Memorial and rose garden in memory of all those from the Cowplain area who died in all conflicts

“Memories of Cowplain” proved very popular with 370 copies sold to date enough money was raised to commence the planning, design and build of the memorial and garden

Land for this project and visible for users of the main A3 London Road was made available within the grounds of Age Concern, Borrow Centre, Cowplain
